RESULTS: 2016 SHORT FILM MUSIC SCORING COMPETITIONThe 2016 Christian Worldview Film Festival was an extraordinary year for the Short Film Music Scoring Competition.
With entries from around the world, the contest provided participants an exciting opportunity to write and orchestrate their own music composition to accompany an 8 minute short film.
Each entrant received the same short film (without music of course), along with notes from the short film director.
Based on those notes, the individual composers wrote their own original piece of music to accompany the short film.
Here is a word from the director of the short film used for this year’s competition:
“Hi, I’m Rebekah Cook, writer/director of “Changing Majors.” This short film was created with the Film Acting class at the MasterWorks performing arts festival in June 2015, and later selected for the 2016 Short Film Music Scoring Competition at the Christian Worldview Film Festival. We were so honored and blown away by the variety and quality of the compositions that were submitted for the contest! The judging panel for the scores included noted film composers Jurgen Beck and Ben Botkin, and professor Austin Jaquith. We were blessed to meet each of the finalist composers at the 2016 CWVFF festival, and thank them in person for their creative contribution. For those who were unable to attend, or screen the film at the event, we have posted the three finalist scores below, in addition to having a link to the final film on our Changing Majors Facebook page. Enjoy!”
